Welcome! It's Time For Show And Tell
I decided after going back and forth about it many times, to go ahead and start up this blog. I want to make it clear that this is not to get followers or for any sort of glory, but more because at this point in my journey in life I want to write down these things I am learning and meditating on. Then not only can I share them with the people I run into throughout my day (which is what I normally do), but for others to be reached too.
I hope that as I grow and learn more about Jesus, that we can grow together and learn together. I am learning every day and praying to be shaped more and more into the image of Christ. (2 Corinthians 3:18 So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord And the Lord, who is the Spirit, makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image." (NLT)
I am learning who I am as a daughter. What freedom and joy I have received along my journey as I realize how much more there is to this life than what I ever thought possible! I grew up always wanting to be able to do superhuman heroic things. Who hasn't read a book or watched a movie (like Matrix or Wonder Woman) and dreamed about what it would be like to have super powers and to save people? The past few years, I began realized that this is indeed what Christians are called to be like! Super human! But not through our own special abilities and powers, but through the blood of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit! Jesus walked on water, commanded out demons, healed the sick and diseased, opened the eyes of the blind and the ears of the deaf, raised the dead, and even resurrected from the dead himself! Do you know that Romans 8 says that we are heirs of God's glory! (Vs 17) Everything that Jesus had belongs to us! 1 Corinthians 4:20 says, "For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God's power." Ephesians 1:3 states that we have been "blessed by Jesus Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ." Jesus' last words before he was taken up to heaven and seated down into the place of honor at God's right hand, were for the disciples to "go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned. These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages. They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won't hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed." Mark 16:15-19, NLT) This certainly sounds super human to me! Why aren't we seeing this much today, save a handful of people like Todd White, Billy Graham, and some other older "greats?" In general, I think it is simply because of a lack of knowledge. What we don't know is hurting us! It's time for the church to wake up and know that we have personally been called to something greater, something bigger, and something a lot more awesome than we could imagine! You and I have been called to act like Jesus! Those are big shoes to fill, but John 14-15 says, "I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father."
One of my favorite teachers is Todd White. He says something along the lines of "Christians need to 'show and tell' or 'tell and show,' but we should always have both. Showing is a word of prophecy, a word of knowledge, healing, showing selfless love, kindness, etc. Telling is simply speaking the good news, which is that Jesus died to not only to give us eternal life, but to come live inside us and transform us now, and to give us back our original created value that was stolen in the Garden of Eden. Now that is good news alright!
Anyhow, I know this might seem a bit radical to most, but I know I am supposed to be sharing this with anyone who will listen. The Lord bless you...may you receive every bit of truth and every good gift that Jesus has provided for you! (Ephesians 1)
